If we can’t enjoy sweet treats at Christmas, when can we? In this blog, we’re going to share the best vegetarian (and vegan) treats to add to a Christmas stocking this year.
Unfortunately, so many of our favourite sweet treats are not suitable for vegetarians. And even fewer are suitable for vegans.
Marshmallows, gummy sweets (such as Haribo), pop tarts, Starburst, Kit-Kats, Smarties… the list of yummy goodies not suitable for vegetarians is long.
But don’t worry, there are plenty of delicious sweet treats that are suitable for vegetarians and will make great additions to a Christmas stocking.
Candy Canes
Let’s start with the most festive sweet treat ever – Candy Canes! There are various brands that produce these delicious stripy treats each year, and many of them are suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets.
Bonds Of London Confectionary Peppermint Candy Canes are delicious, affordable and suitable for vegetarians. ASDA’s own brand of peppermint candy canes is also suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Oreos
You can’t have Christmas with milk and cookies. And what better cookies to add to a Christmas stocking than Oreos?!
Loved by children and adults alike, an Oreo Original Snack Pack will make a perfect after-breakfast snack on Christmas morning. They are suitable for vegetarians and taste delicious with Oat Milk!

Hot Chocolate Bombs
Nothing beats a wonderful hot chocolate when it’s freezing cold outside. Hot chocolate bombs are fun to make and taste delicious. There are various vegetarian and vegan hot chocolate bombs on the market, some even include vegetarian marshmallows inside!
Candy Kittens Sweets
Candy Kitten has taken the confectionary world by storm with their veggie and vegan sweets that are made with real fruit juice. Sour watermelon, tropical mango, blueberry bliss… Candy Kitten sweets are made in amazing flavours, all packaged in carbon-neutral bags. And the little bags are a great size for Christmas stockings.
Chocolate Coins
Chocolate coins are always a firm favourite with the little ones. And they’re a staple Christmas stocking item. “Free-From” chocolate coins, which are suitable for vegetarians AND vegans, are available in most supermarkets, including Sainsbury’s, Tesco and the Co-op.
Chocolate Orange
Along with chocolate coins, oranges are a traditional Christmas stocking filler, with many people waking up on Christmas morning to an Orange or Satsuma in their stockings. It’s still a great idea to put an orange in a stocking. But you can also add a chocolate orange too!
The famous Terry’s Chocolate Orange is available in a dark chocolate version, which is suitable for vegetarians (but not vegans). Thankfully, it’s not the only chocolate orange out there. Oski’s Vegan Chocolate orange is a fantastic alternative.
