Crème Caramel Oatmeal

Who here is a fan of smooth, creamy porridge?

If you look to the corner of the room you’ll see me, crawling under a pile of blankets and putting both of my hands up in the air because HECK YES I love me some warm porridge. Especially when it’s flavoured like one of my favourite French desserts… Isn’t crème caramel great? Now that we stop and think about it: isn’t each one of them French sweets absolutely flippin’ delicious??

Croissants, pain-au-chocolat, crème brulée, petit fours, éclairs… I WANT THEM ALL and I’m pretty sure you guys do too (otherwise you’re very weird, you special peanut) which is a good thing because, guess what? I’ve got a fantastic petit fours recipe coming for you sometime next week.

By the way, look at how all the French studying I’ve been doing lately has been paying off!!!! I finally can spell dessert names with the accents and stuff without having to check Google. YAY ME! YAY ME!

Also YAY ME because I just happened to come up with which is probably the world’s most epic porridge recipe of all time. And yes, in case you’re wondering: I’m also the world’s most humble person of all time.

This bowl of oatmeal is everything you need for those chilly spring mornings when you feel like doing nothing but living under the fuzziest blanket, drink tea and eat all the warm stuff. OR, you could make it ahead of time and have it ready for those mornings when you:

1) Woke up late (again) because you’re one lazy bean and should know better than staying up late re-watching Narcos for what is probably the 45th time but hey, who can blame you? Ok, let me blame you. Now you’re late for uni and have absolutely no time to do your make-up so you don’t look like you’re dying or actually having a decent breakfast.

2) Anyway, stubborn and peachy blush-obsessed as you are, you won’t leave the house without a full face of make-up. Because what use is spending that much money on something you’re not going to wear 5/7 days of the week???? Not. Worth. It.

So yippity yeah, here’s your sorry self, being late for class again but still making sure your eyeliner looks flawless. I’m pretty sure my lecturers do not care about that as much as they care about me being on time but then again: Kat Von D’s eyeliners are super pricy and if you’re going to pay all that money you may as well use the heck out of that liner, right?

3) Now look at you having zero time to get yourself a great breakfast or sit down for a cup of coffee while you browse Instagram. Can’t believe you did it again, after all this time.

Wouldn’t be easier to simply set the alarm 10 minutes earlier?

To not stay up that late admiring that handsome moustached man and go to bed instead?

I’ll tell you what’s easy: making a bowl of this the night before so you have it ready when you’re short on time. YAY YOU! You might be one lazy bean but those planning skills? Flawless.

Unlike my cat-wing drawing skills, which still resemble those of a 3-year-old. But hey, let’s keep practising. In the end, that’s what those 20 minutes before early morning lectures are for.

Now, really, let’s talk oatmeal because I’m pretty sure you’re not here to hear me whine about how late for class I usually am. You’re here to get those goodiesssssssss, in this case: this fine bowl of creamy oatmeal.

This is quite a simple recipe to make, really. All I did was add a couple of English Toffee Stevia Drops and a tablespoon of cashew cream for some extra luxury. Mind-blowing, let me tell you!! 

I’ve been so in love with those Stevia drops it’s unreal. They make everything taste glorious and you only need like one drop, so the jar goes a long, long way. LUV IT. Almost as much as I love certain moustached man.

Honestly, whether you’re stuck in a breakfast rut and need new stuff to spice up your porridge life (we’ve all been there) or simply new to the wonders of oatmeal bowl: please, give this a go. Your tastebuds will thank you for it (and so will your lectures/boss/whatevs since you’ll be early to class. YAY YOU. YAY ME. What a team)

Crème Caramel Oatmeal

Crème Caramel Oatmeal


  • 300 grams cashew milk
  • 1-2 tbsp. cashew cream
  • 55 grams rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp. coconut sugar
  • 1 drop English Toffee Stevia
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • a pinch of cinnamon
  • a pinch of salt


  1. Whisk together oats, sugar, salt and cinnamon in a saucepan.
  2. Add in milk, cream, vanilla and stevia drops and stir to combine.
  3. Heat on low-medium for 8-10 minutes, stirring often so the porridge doesn't burn.
  4. Top with some extra cashew cream if desired and enjoy!


Any kind of milk/cream can be used but I find that cashew yields the best results!
