You know you’re entitled to cry and complain about how hot it is out there when you turn on the cold tap and it feels like it’s broth coming out of it.
Pretty sure that the sun has started to melt all the pipes in our house and with them all my dreams to spend a single summer not wanting to lock myself in the freezer until the end of my days. Giving a new meaning to the “Wake me up when September ends” song y’all.
This heatwave is going to be the end of me I’m telling you.
One part of me wants to enjoy mugs of warm hot chocolate under a blanket, watching all the TV shows with a laptop on my lap (fun fact, did I just realize why laptops are called that way??? Mindblown) and fuzzy socks in my feet. Because… aren’t those the finest things in life?
Then there’s the rational part of me, screaming that I put a pair of shorts and a tank top on for the love of all that’s sacred and run to the nearest pool available. It was also wise Consuelo who told me to make a smoothie bowl out of deliciously refreshing frozen fruit and energising baobab in a thankfully succesful attempt to make this infernal heat go away.
Thank you smarty-pants Consuelo. I’m really hoping you’ll make an appereance next time reckless Consuelo thinks that staying up till 5 to rewatch OITNB is a good idea. I so could do with another baobab smoothie right now!
Have you guys had a chance to try baobab powder before? I haven’t been having it for long, but it sure has become a favourite of mine, due to its lightly tropical flavour and vast array of health benefits. It’s raw and minimally processed, which means it’s a vitamin C powerhouse! Such a great addition to your mornings when you haven’t slept too well (read: you spent the night binge-watching whichever show you’re addicted to) and could do with an extra energy kick.
Good thing is that, unlike caffeine, it won’t make you crash and be miserable a couple of hours after you’ve gulped down your coffee, (Coffee, I love you, but you know ours is a difficult relationship), which translates to endless energy allllllll day errrrr day.
I’ve used Organic Burst baobab this time, which is one of my favourite superfood brands ever. Their product range is amazing (hooray for superfoods which actually taste nice!), the customer service couldn’t be any better and I’m a sucker for the adorable packaging. Plus, they ship worldwide too, what’s not to love?
If you’re looking for a new superfood to include in your diet, try baobab. It can be added to smoothies, raw soups and sprinkled on salads to supercharge them too. And it makes for the most refreshing summer treats, just like this delicious stone fruit smoothie!
Which I may or may not have topped with all the fruits available at home… because, don’t toppings make life better after all?
Do your summer self a favour and try this combo. Your tastebuds and energy levels will thank you for it!
