Stone Fruit Barley Salad with Sparkly Vinaigrette

*I must warn you that this is a pretty long post of me talking about fictional TV characters in a rather obsessive (I prefer the word “passionate”) way. Feel free to scroll down to check the recipe. Yay because there’s glitter involved*

I meant to share this salad with you quite a few days ago, but then something happened.

It wasn’t a exam that I was studying for.

It wasn’t a race I ran (sadly, because my leg is still pretty darn injured ugh)

It wasn’t that I went on holiday (sadly #2)

Stone Fruit Barley Salad with Sparkly Vinaigrette

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I haven’t been around for the past 4-5 days and I like to think I have a pretty good reason not to, but truth is:

With a TV show. Game of Thrones to be exact. More like I fell in love pretty much every man in the show but yeah. I did. I watched all of four seasons. In 5 days. In my defense I have to say that it would have taken just 4 days if it wasn’t for the fact that there was a prett big storm on Monday. And obviously, as the 3-year-old girl I’m still at heart (yes, 3-year-olds we also fall for TV characters but again, who can resist Robb Stark. Hint: not me), I was afraid of thunders and lightning and all I did that day was take a pretty long nap because the storm would have killed me if using electronical devices aka the laptop.

SO logical. Don’t mind me – it’s the way 3-year-olds roll.

Anyway. Off went the 4 season in 5 days. What am I doing with my life, I don’t know. I suppose it time to be back to work, writing the ebook and friends. Or I could go take a really long nap and hope that when I wake up season 5 is already up. Either option is fine.

I must say though that it wasn’t a nice show to fall in love with given my propension to become emotionally attached with hot man characters with a beard.

I’m taking suggestions for new shows to watch now that I’m done with this one. Handsome man are preferred. And so are beards.

((( Don’t say The Walking Dead because I already fell in love with that Sheriff. But again, who wouldn’t )))

Stone Fruit Barley Salad with Sparkly Vinaigrette

Does it seem to you like I use too many parenthesis?? Because here goes another one:

((( Secretly wishing that I was that kid in Love Actually right now since he has starred with both my Sheriff and the whole of the GoT cast. Can I be him? )))

Ok. No more parenthesis for now. I should move to the part where I talk about salad and I tell you how good it is (really!), but I just can’t seem to stop talking about GoT. Told you this what going to be a pretty long post.

So salad it is. And it features a lovely sparkly vinaigrette which takes this over the top, making it the Robb Stark of salads. Or the Jon Snow. I still can’t sem to decide which one I like better.

Whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrr. This dressing rocks. It’s just lemon juice + honey + olive oil, but some way or another, it sparks as if it was made out of stars or something. Which I obviously adore, but again, which 3-year-old girl doesn’t love all sparkly and glittery stuff????

Then we have peaches (courtesy of our peach tree which won’t ever stop growing them. We’ve been eating nothing but that for the past three weeks. Sounds nice but after the first five days living on peaches, all that you want to do is punching the darn peach in its hairy lovely face), barley, greens, feta and pistachios.

Sweet and salty combo? I’m so in.

Stone Fruit Barley Salad with Sparkly Vinaigrette

The sweetness of the dressing and fruit gets to balance out the saltiness of the salad, making it a glorious concoction. Or as I said, the Robb Stark of salads.

I shall leave now. It’s not that I’m going to watch all of the second season again or something. Oh well you got me, by “second season” I mean “Robb” actually. Nah, really. I have tons of work to catch up on after 5 days of doing nothing but watching TV and of course, eating peaches.

Make the salad though, you won’t regret it.

Not only do I intend to become the parenthesis queen, but the ps’s queen as well, so here I go.

ps. #1: sorry for the lighing. I’ve yet to find a good photography spot in the summer house. I’d like to say I’ve looked for it far and wide, but truth is I’ve been too busy binge watching GoT.

ps. #2: do you guys watch GoT? Hope you’re on team Robb. Kidding, he’s mine. Nah, tell me wchih side you’re on, I’m curious to know!

p.s #3: if you haven’t watched yet, don’t do so. It ruin your life.

p.s #4: sorry for the lame post. I quite missed writing.

I’m afraid if I start a series (game of thrones for example … or once upon a time!) I would kiss the real world goodbye for a week and live on the couch. Not necessarily a bad thing! 😉
This salad is gorgeous! The fruit and barley is a delicious combo! And you totally had me at sparkly vinaigrette 🙂

I hear lots of people talk about Game of Thrones , but I haven’t gotten around to checking it out. It seems whenever I have time to watch the TV someone else has it occupied.
This salad looks amazing! I love that you used barley in this. It is just a nutritious grain 😀

This salad looks absolutely lovely! Also, I’m totally obsessed with GoT too. It’s soooo good. I’m also sad that this season is over and contemplating reading the books. We shall see! Glad you’re back though! 🙂

I don’t watch TV the way I used to so I’m pretty clueless on the subject. But I do know this salad is so pretty. Sweet and salty combo? Say no more…

I haven’t watched Game of Thrones because I’m afraid I’d never leave the house! Orange is the New Black and House of Cards have kept me busy enough, haha. BUT I completely approve of hot men with beards.

Also, this salad looks like heaven on a plate! I wish it would magically appear in my fridge for tomorrow’s lunch.

After two episodes of the first series, Game of Thrones did not grow on me! I should probably watch more before I give up. I have quite a few friends that love the show as much as you do. p.s. this is really my type of salad!
