Vanilla Malted Milk Cookies

Sometimes, simple things are better.
Although vanilla is always better.
Add malted milk powder, butter and cream cheese and you get the best cookies ever.

I know they might look dull and simple to you, but trust me, one bit and you’ll be in cookie heaven! Not even chocolate chips are needed to achieve cookie perfection, the vanilla, malt and butter flavors really come trough and make these babies extra special.
They taste of fall to me, and you know I don’t want summer to go, but I’m always in for a fall-ish treat. And these cookies would be perfect with a big mug of hot coffee. Or malted milk. Or hot chocolate… Definitely, warm beverages are my favourite thing about fall.
The only thing I didn’t like about these, is that it took me 2 hours to figure out how to use my cookie press… but if you know how to use yours, they’ll take very little time to come together. Or you can use a pastry bag, that’d be easier, I think.
I followed this recipe from The Little Epicurean. Head over to her blog to read the recipe, because the only thing I changed about the recipe is that I used light cream cheese instead of full-fat, so I didn’t think it was right to copy and post her recipe here.
And I hope you really like cookies, because that recipe made 121 cookies for me. And I even ate lots of the cookie dough.
Have a great labor day weekend!
Consuelo x

These sound wonderful! Butter, cream cheese and malt! My hubby LOVES a vanilla malted milk shake. I’m pinning this to my “Hubby Food” board. Can’t wait to try them with a cup of hot cocoa! 🙂

121 cookies!? Wow. Like, wow! And I do like cookies! They sound perfect with a hot drink!

This recipe is actually supposed to yield more than 121 cookies but I gotta admit that I ate a shamefully big amount of the raw dough, it was so tasty 😉

Yum! I’m always looking for new ways to use my cookie press, beyond the basic holiday butter cookies. I can just imagine how delicious these must be from the cream cheese and malted milk powder. Can’t wait to try these!

These taste like an improved version of classic butter cookies, because malt and cream cheese make everything better 😉 I hope you love them, dear!

Great little cookies! These would make wonderful holiday gifts as an alternative to the usual butter cookies. You know what’s funny? I have a cookie press that was a hand me down from my dad and I’ve literally never used it!

Yes, they’re like classic butter cookies but they have a deeper flavour which I love!
My cookie press was also handed down to me by my dad, now that’s funny! 😉

Wow! That’s a lot of cookies. I’m sure they would disappear in a hurry in my house though. 🙂

    • Reply Consuelo Morcillo September 2, 2013 at 9:25 am

They also would in my house! But I brought them to my local hospital for the nurses and medical team and everything, so we didn’t have the temptation at home 😉

121 cookies?! Wow, that’s a lot. When I did it, I ended up with 3 dozen (36 cookies). But I guess it really depends on the size and shape of the cookies! Thanks for the trying out the recipe! So glad you enjoyed it.
I have a cookie press that my mom gave me years ago. Its still in the original box. I’m afraid to use it!

Thanks for posting it, it was a fantastic one!
Yes, I know I read your recipe and saw it yielded 36 cookies and then I started shaping cookies and discovered there were lots and lots of them! Not that I complain ir something, haha 😉
I tried out my cookie press for the first time with this recipe, it had been boxed for years!

Plus, Vanilla is the best flavor in my opinion! Simple and indulgent! And these cookies? I’m dying to make them!

Ooh these are adorable! I love vanilla everything. And malt is also one of my favorite flavors! So simple, but also interesting.
I have never used a cookie press, but it looks like your effort paid off because they are terrific shapes!
